What is the WSYSA /DISTRICT III TOPSoccer Disciplinary Alternative Program (DAP)?

What is TOPSoccer?

TOPSoccer is a program that enables children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities to play soccer.

What is DAP?

The WSYSA TOPSoccer/District III Disciplinary Alternative Program is a program that is intended to give players and/or coaches an alternative to disciplinary suspensions by volunteering for a TOPSoccer program.

How does it work?

The Disciplinary Committee will ask you if you would like to volunteer to lessen your suspension. If you agree to do so, you will be asked to comply the guidelines provided.

Where do I volunteer?

You would be volunteering for any District III TOPSoccer program.

How much time will I be expected to volunteer?

That would be determined between yourself and the Disciplinary Committee.

What will I be expected to do?

You may be asked to set up and tear down for soccer training. You may be asked to be a buddy.

What is a buddy?

A buddy acts as an enabler to our players. Typically a buddy will provide assistance as needed, assist player to get into position to play, model a desired skill, guide and direct, often not touching player directly, but being near-by, push a wheelchair, position the ball for the player. Buddies do not score.

What types of disabilities will I encounter?

You will find children with physical and or intellectual disabilities, players who are blind or deaf/hard of hearing, wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers.
